PLANO PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION INVITES PUBLIC TO PEEK AT HAGGARD
LIBRARY
The Plano Public Library Foundation is hosting a sneak peek of the
Haggard Library on Sunday, November 13, from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. The
public is invited to get a first look at Haggard Library before the
library is open. Haggard Library, located at 2501 Coit Road, has been
under construction since August 2004. It is scheduled to open for
operation on Sunday, December 11.
At Sunday’s event, the Foundation will honor Merle Haggard, wife of the
library’s namesake, W.O. Haggard, Jr. Rodney Haggard and his wife, Linda
Haggard, and Jana Bryan Haggard and her husband, R. E. Bryan, are the
event co-chairs. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit with
local authors including:

Music and entertainment will be provided by Doc Gibbs and by a youth
ensemble from the Plano Symphony Orchestra. Refreshments are being
served courtesy of Carvel Ice Cream, Central Market and Schlotzsky’s.
The Plano Public Library Foundation, a non-profit organization formed in
1983, is dedicated to ensuring a high quality library system now and in
future years. Through fundraising activities, the Foundation solicits
donations and invests funds in an endowment for the long-term excellence
of Plano Public Library System (PPLS) libraries. The Foundation
encourages individuals within this diverse community to become involved
with the libraries in order to meet the needs and expectations of Plano
citizens. Individuals and families attending this event are encouraged
to make a $25 donation to the Foundation; however, donations are not
mandatory.
