City of Plano Celebrates Texas Recycles Day (Multiple Activities
Planned)
The City of Plano is planning several events to encourage Texans to
recycle or increase their recycling efforts in conjunction with “Growing
Recycling in Texas,” the theme of the November 15, 2005 Texas Recycles
Day.
Promoting composting, a sale on Plano Pure products has been announced
by Ms. Glenna Brown, the City’s Recycling Coordinator. “Plano residents
can order bulk quantities of compost, mulch, topdressing or soil blend
by Nov. 18, and they will receive a 10% discount if they mention the
‘Texas Recycles Day Special.’” Order from
www.planopure.com or call
Environmental Waste Services Customer Service at 972-769-4150.
The City’s Commercial Diversion Department will celebrate Texas Recycles
Day with a workshop for Plano businesses on November 15. “Our department
is partnering with Whole Foods, Allied Waste and Plano Pure Products to
educate businesses on the benefits of implementing our unique waste
diversion program,” explained Robert Smouse, Special Services
Superintendent.
Ms. Brown will highlight Texas Recycles Day and National Children’s Book
Week when she visits with several Plano elementary schools as a guest
reader Nov. 14 -18. She will read Johnny and the Old Oak Tree, an
adventure story that will broaden students’ knowledge of recycling and
motivate them to make a difference at home and at school.
“We want to help Plano residents make recycling part of their everyday
lives,” said Ms. Brown. For more information on Texas Recycles Day and
