Mike Ryan Receives National Purchasing Institute Award
Mike Ryan, Chief Purchasing Officer for the City of Plano, recently
received the prestigious “Carlton N. Parker Award for Outstanding
Service” from the National Purchasing Institute at their Annual
Conference in Orlando Florida.
Plano City Manager Tom Muehlenbeck said, “Mike has an incredible
commitment to the integrity of the purchasing profession. He works
diligently to set a high-level of checks and balances in place for our
City. His procurement and leadership skills are outstanding. During the
recent Katrina Relief Efforts, his team set a new standard of excellence
as they purchased and managed resources for shelter operations in a
quick and efficient manner. We couldn’t be more pleased he is being
honored on this level.”
Carlton N. Parker Award is a lifetime achievement award presented
annually to a public purchasing official for dedicated service and
outstanding contributions to the development and progress of the public
procurement profession over their career. It is named in honor of
Carlton Parker, C.P.M., a past President of the National Purchasing
Institute and former Purchasing Manager at the City of Arlington.
Ryan has worked for the City of Plano for 28 years, and has served as
the Chief Purchasing Officer since 1990.
