KEEP PLANO BEAUTIFUL ANNOUNCES WINNER OF 3rd ANNUAL T-SHIRT DESIGN
CONTEST “LITTER IS A MONSTER OF A PROBLEM”
Keep Plano Beautiful (KPB) launched another fun challenge this fall to
Plano Kindergarten to 5th graders to create a t-shirt design reflecting
the theme, “LITTER IS A MONSTER OF A PROBLEM.” The contest was held in
partnership with Plano libraries and PISD Environmental Clubs. The
winner of this year’s contest is eight-year-old Jay Purohit, a 3rd
grader from Skaggs Elementary School. Jay’s design will be incorporated
on 2,500 t-shirts that volunteers for the Great American Cleanup™ will
wear on April 1, 2006.
Mayor Pat Evans will present Jay a special certificate at the December
12 City Council meeting as a thank-you for depicting so clearly how
litter can turn into a monster of a problem and what Plano residents can
do about it.
The Great American Cleanup™, sponsored by KPB, is Plano’s largest
cleanup event of the year. 2006 will celebrate Plano’s 21st year of
conducting a community cleanup! This exciting event is an opportunity
for all Plano residents, young and old, to get involved. KPB counts on
volunteers working together picking up litter on roads, in
neighborhoods, creeks, parks, and in playgrounds to create a shared
sense of responsibility for maintaining Plano as a clean and healthy
community. Following a morning of hard work, volunteers will be honored
with lunch, entertained by Radio Disney, and treated to fun activities
at Bob Woodruff Park.
Registration for the 2006 Great American Cleanup™, will be available
online in January 2006; for questions concerning the 2005 cleanup,
current sponsors, or how to become a sponsor, call 972-769-4216, or
