Preparations Underway for 2nd Annual Plano International Festival
Preparations are underway for the 2nd Annual Plano International Festival, to be held on Saturday, October 21 at Haggard Park in downtown Plano from 10am – 4pm. The Festival, through performances, ethnic foods, children’s activities, music, cultural displays and more, will highlight the rich tapestry of cultures represented by the citizens of Plano. Haggard Park is located at the corner of 15th Street and Avenue H, just west of the DART rail station for downtown Plano.
This year’s Festival builds on the success and excitement of last year’s event, which drew nearly 5,000 attendees. The festivities will again kick off with a Parade of Nations where students from Plano ISD wear traditional costumes and carry the flags of their native countries. Plano Mayor Pat Evans will then officially open the Festival from the park’s beautifully restored gazebo. Live music, dance performances, two international fashion shows and other multicultural entertainment will be staged at the gazebo throughout the day.
A special highlight at this year’s Plano International Festival will be a naturalization ceremony to be held in the Haggard Park for all Festival attendees to witness.
Admission and parking are free. Visitors can take advantage of the DART rail station next to the park for transportation. Applications for vendors and performers are still being accepted. Visit www.PlanoInternationalFestival.org for application forms and other information, or email info@PlanoInternationalFestival.org. The Plano International Festival is sponsored by the 501(c)(3) Plano International Festival Corporation (PIFC) and is underwritten by the City of Plano.
