Plano Television Network Receives Honors for Programming
The Plano Television Network (PTN) was honored with six awards at the 2006 Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (TATOA) programming awards ceremony in San Antonio.
Of these awards, PTN won first place in Overall Excellence in Government Programming, a distinction PTN has earned in four of five years competing. In addition, PTN also received first place honors for its magazine format show, “Plano Wired.”
City Manager Tom Muehlenbeck stated, “The PTN team continues to produce high-quality, relevant programming for our community, helping our citizen’s to be informed, be involved and be ready. We are very pleased to see their efforts rewarded.”
“My staff has worked hard over the past year to provide excellent programming to Plano residents,” said PTN Executive Producer Kurt Ugland. “It is encouraging when our work is used as an educational tool for our residents, but is also recognized by our peers.”
In addition to these awards, PTN was recognized with its 11th Emmy Nomination on September 21. Producer Jason Van Sickel’s “Shattered Dream” entry is nominated in the Education category. The Lone Star Emmy Gala will celebrate the winners on October 21 in Houston.
“It is an honor to have our work recognized by the Lone Star Emmy committee,” Van Sickel said. “I am fortunate to be working with a talented group of coworkers who helped in the production of ‘Shattered Dreams.’”
Last October, PTN won its first Lone Star Emmy and became the first municipality in Texas to be honored with this prestigious award.
