Four City of Plano Employees Earn LEED Accreditation
The City of Plano is pleased to announce that four employees recently passed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) test. The new LEED Accredited Professionals (AP) are Robert Smouse, Environmental Services Operations Manager; Tony Han, Plans Review Supervisor; Karen Hargis, Commercial Diversion Coordinator; and Yarcus Lewis, Commercial Diversion Coordinator.
Plano proudly supports its employees’ interest in green design and a general increase in the public’s interest in green design practices. The City is making a concerted effort to educate employees and to encourage LEED Accreditation.
The Green Building committee, an enthusiastic group of City professionals, researches sustainable design options and consults on green practices. The committee also explores innovative ways to increase awareness and knowledge in sustainable design.
The LEED Green Building Rating System ™ is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED provides a complete framework for assessing building performance and meeting sustainability goals. Based on well-founded scientific standards, LEED emphasizes state of the art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
LEED recognizes achievements and promotes expertise in green building through a comprehensive system offering project certification, professional accreditation, training and practical resources.
