Plano’s City Fleet Leads Nation
Plano has proved to be a leader yet again, but this time on street with its fleet of nearly 1,600 vehicles. Plano’s Fleet and Equipment Services Division has been named one of the “100 Best Fleets in North America for 2006.” The recognition is awarded by Fleet Counselor Services Inc and CCG Systems Inc. for standards of excellence which include: accountability, technology and information, organizational culture, performance, creativity, turnaround, pricing, staff development and resource stewardship. A combination of 79,000 private and public fleets were evaluated, and of those 36,000 were public fleets.
Plano City Manager Tom Muehlenbeck said, “Our team works hard to provide the best customer services both internally and externally. Having a fleet that out performs others allows us to provide service in the most efficient manner, while respecting the environment we share with our citizens. We are very proud of this achievement.”
Plano’s fleet includes 59 hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles, which is just one more way the City is trying to be environmentally friendly.
