Second Lone Star Emmy Goes to PTN
And the Lone Star Emmy goes to the Plano Television Network (PTN) for “Shattered Dreams.” These words echoed Saturday, Oct. 21, as the Plano Television Network collected its second EMMY from the Lone Star Chapter of the National Television Academy.
The program, “Shattered Dreams,” was produced by Jason Van Sickel about the consequences of teen drinking and driving. This is Jason’s second Emmy-winning video production. “It is an honor to bring back-to-back EMMY’s to Plano,” Van Sickel said. “I consider myself to be fortunate to be working with a talent group of professionals who helped me produce this award-winning piece.”
Kurt Ugland, PTN Executive Producer, is proud of this latest accomplishment. “We have had a great year with numerous awards given to our station,” he said. “The EMMY is just the icing on the cake.”
Since 1999 PTN has received nine EMMY nominations and two EMMY statuettes, making it the most honored municipal television station in Texas by the Lone Star EMMY Chapter.
“We are competing with two top 10 markets in the nation, Houston and Dallas, as well as many other talented producers in the state,” Ugland said. “So, to be recognized for our programming is quite an honor.”
City Manager Tom Muehlenbeck remarked, “PTN pushes its creative team to bring quality programming and relevant information to the homes of our citizens. When industry leaders recognize our talent, it verifies for us our PTN team knows how to tell Plano’s story in a riveting and memorable way.”
PTN has won 25 awards in 2006, with the most recent being six Aurora Awards. Despite the number of accolades, the PTN team recognizes its main objective is to bring information to Plano residents. “We have a talented group of television professionals who are dedicated to educating our residents,” Ugland said. “Meeting this objective is our first priority.”
