International Film Festival Rolls Through Plano’s Davis Library
The Plano Public Library System is hosting “The World on Film,” an international film festival, at Davis Library, 7501-B Independence, through mid-November. The FREE films will be shown from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sundays with subtitles.
The film showing Nov.5 is “Long Life, Happiness and Prosperity” from Canada, featuring Chinese Canadians and directed by Mina Shum. Mindy (Valerie Tian) decides to help her divorced mother (Sandra Oh of Grey’s Anatomy) find a boyfriend by using Taoist magic. Instead of helping, Mindy’s attempt at Taoist magic seems to make matters worse.
Nov. 12 features “Le Grand Voyage,” filmed in France and Morocco and directed by Ismael Ferroukhi. Reda (Nicolas Cazale) has a strained relationship with his father who lives in the south of France. Reda, however, feels an obligation to drive his father to Mecca. This film chronicles their trip.
