CITY OF PLANO RECOGNIZES ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE AT NOVEMBER 7 CHAMBER EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS LUNCHEON

The City of Plano’s Commercial Diversion Program will recognize eight Plano businesses with Environmental Star of Excellence honors at the November 7, 2006 Plano Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business luncheon.  The 11am luncheon will be held at the Plano Centre, 2000 E. Springcreek Parkway.

Robert Smouse, Plano’s Environmental Services Operations Manager, indicates this is the second year the City’s Environmental Star of Excellence recipients will be honored at a Chamber event.  Said Mr. Smouse, “These businesses are being honored for taking voluntary measures to ensure their businesses have the least possible negative impact on our environment, while demonstrating sustainable practices can make positive impacts to the businesses bottom-line.”

Outstanding achievement in four recycling programs — organic, single-stream, newcomer, and construction and demolition will be recognized.  In addition, four businesses will be honored in the Outstanding Environmental Commitment, Distinguished Recycling Partner, Outstanding Green Building, and Outstanding PISD Environmental Commitment categories.

“We’re enthusiastic about sharing the initiatives and programs of these community leaders who have integrated environmental excellence into the core of their corporate culture and in their day-to-day operations,” said Mr. Smouse.

For additional information on the City of Plano’s Environmental Star of Excellence awards, or its recycling programs, please contact the Commercial Diversion Department at (972) 769-4150 or visit www.planocommercialrecycling.com.
