Plano Residents Invited to Dialogue With Collin County Judge Elect Keith Self, November 29, 2006
Newly elected Collin County Judge Keith Self will host a community reception on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, 7pm, Davis Library Programming Room, 7501-B Independence Parkway, Plano.
Plano citizens are invited to attend the reception affording them the opportunity to meet County Judge Elect Self, who will respond to any questions and/or concerns they may have in an informal town hall format setting.
“I believe that open government is vital to representing the citizens and I intend to continue to seek out citizen inputs,” said County Judge Elect Self. “Our rapid county growth requires a nimble, responsive county government in order to stay ahead of that growth while recognizing that our cities are in various stages of development.”
The duties of the County Judge include the adoption and administration of a budget and the assessment and collection of property taxes from the citizenry to pay for the services funded in the budget. Such county services include the provision of county courts, law enforcement, jails, hospitals, health services, the maintenance of county roads, bridges, dams and other infrastructure.
In the process of providing such services to the county the County Judge and the County Commissioners Court, over which he presides, conduct the business of the county by providing an effective governing administration, contracting for services and overseeing the activities of the county as the elected stewards.
“I will work to focus our county spending on those core county functions that serve all our citizens,” said County Judge Elect Self. “I look forward to a lively discussion with those citizens of Plano who join us on November 29.”
