Judy Elmore sat in her hotel room enjoying the Vegas skyline. She watched
the beautiful fountains of Bellagio dancing outside her window and suddenly
jumped from her chair. Water! She had neglected to pay her utility bill
before she left on vacation!
This could present a real problem to some persons, but not for Ms. Elmore.
She ran to her laptop, logged onto the City of Plano web site, quickly
accessed her utility billing secure account and generated an electronic
payment. Within the hour her payment was logged onto her account and she was
settling in for an evening of fun. Her vacation was saved.
In the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2004-05, electronic payments have
accounted for 33% of all City of Plano utility billing payments processed,
with more than 4,500 customers currently enrolled in the automatic payment
program through the City’s web site.
Through the City’s eCommerce technology, paying your water, sewer and refuse
bill online couldn’t get easier or more secure.
Customers may pay their utility bill online through Credit Card, Automatic
Recurring Credit Card or Applying for a Recurring Bank Draft options.
Persons also have the option of receiving an electronic notification when
their water bill is ready for viewing.
Currently, MasterCard, VISA and Discover are accepted for credit card
payment, with American Express coming online later this year, along with
acceptance of electronic checks, a “quick pay” option and general
modifications for easier site navigation.
Customers with Internet access may view their secure account from anywhere
in the world, paying bills, reviewing payment and consumption histories with
graph conversion options, installing new services, transferring services or
closing an account.
Whether you wish to learn more about electronic payment options or simply
wish to learn how you can access your monthly account to review your
consumption and other features, a visit to the City of Plano
Customer/Utility Services web site is a must.
All information is totally secure and sign-up is fast, easy and
user-friendly.
This online technology is definitely appreciated by the 33% who are paying
their bills online, with Plano far ahead of the pack nationally. The average
electronic payment collection percentage for the utility industry is 1.2%
and 5% over the entire scope of businesses participating in the most recent
study by the Ascent Group Inc.
