Let the games begin! Registration begins Tuesday, March 1 for the eagerly
awaited 18th Annual Plano Senior Games, Monday, April 18 through Monday,
April 25. Carrying the theme “A Rush for the Gold,” the 2005 Games will once
again pit competitors in a series of enjoyable competitions offering
something for every interest and physical ability.
Individuals age 50 or older are encouraged to register, with forms available
at the Senior Center, Plano libraries and Plano Recreation Centers. A $10
fee entitles persons to participate in up to six events, and includes a
Senior Games T-Shirt and admission to the Pancake Breakfast.
Events for 2005 include Washers, Bridge (Pairs), Canasta, Billiards (Men and
Co-Ed), Skipbo, 42, Table Tennis (Singles), Arts & Crafts, Walking,
Pinochle, Moon, Bocce Ball, Croquet, Horseshoes, Spaghetti Dinner, Floor
Shuffleboard, Open Bridge (Singles and Duplicate), and Dominoes.
Scheduled over the week-long period in April, the Games provide an enjoyable
outlet for friendly competition and the opportunity to cheer on old friends,
or compete with new ones. The events culminate in a festive awards dinner,
complete with medals.
