You may, or may not, be familiar with the current roster of City of Plano
Mayor and City Council Members in light of our recent May 2005 election.
There are eight Council places, each identified with numbers running “1”
through “8” in the City of Plano, including the place of Mayor (Place 6).
All Council Members run and serve “at large,” which means that all Council
Members represent the entire City, and likewise the entire City may vote for
all eight places as they come due, regardless of where they may reside in
the City.
Plano is governed by a Council-Manager form of government where the Council
sets City policy and the Manager is responsible for City operations. Citizen
advisory Boards and Commissions add to the governing process.
The City Council meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month for a
5:00 p.m. workshop, and at 7:00 p.m. for a regular meeting. Meetings are
held in the City Council Chamber, Municipal Center, 1520 Avenue K.
Open to the public, City Council meetings may also be viewed live on the
Plano Television Network (PTN), Comcast Cable Channel 30, or through the
City of Plano website video stream.
In addition to repeat PTN airings throughout the week, City Council meetings
are archived and available for segment viewing under the unique “Video on
Demand” service of PTN.
The current City Council is:
Mayor Pat Evans, Place 6
Mayor Pro tem Ken Lambert, Place 8
Deputy Mayor Pro tem Scott Johnson, Place 2
Council Member Shep Stahel, Place 1
Council Member Loretta Ellerbe, Place 3
Council Member Sally Magnuson, Place 4
Council Member Harry LaRosiliere, Place 5
Council Member Jean Callison, Place 7
