If you grew up around “sock monkeys” raise your hand! How about bean bags or
hand-embroidered tea towels or hand carved wooden toys? Do you long for a
beautiful old fashioned sun bonnet or a beautifully knit afghan or hand
quilted blanket? Then the Senior Center’s Yellow Rose Gift Shop is the place
for you.
Tucked away inside Plano’s outstanding Senior Center facility, the Yellow
Rose features “handcrafted from the heart” gift items crafted by talented
senior consignors. At more than reasonable prices, with unbeatable quality,
the Yellow Rose is probably one of the best kept “secrets” in town!
Each holiday brings in an assortment of wonderful gifts geared for the
season, supplementing an ever-changing variety of crafts and artwork.
Staffed by some of the friendliest volunteers in town, no-one can leave the
Yellow Rose without at least a smile in hand.
“I found a beautiful Raggedy Ann and Andy doll set here,” said shopper
Violet Martin. “I had looked everywhere for one and just stumbled across it
and the shop when I was at the Senior Center one day with a friend. At
Christmas I can find the best stocking stuffers and great little gifts and I
always come in at Easter to get hand-knit rabbits and chicks for the
grandkids. They think I make a lot of this myself just for them. They don’t
realize I can’t sew a stitch!”
While Violet busied herself looking at a beautiful array of hand-painted
vinegar/oil bottles, another shopper browsed through a selection of
impeccably finished wooden airplanes and cars and adorable children’s
clothing and wraps.
The Yellow Rose is located just inside the Senior Center Lobby at 401 West
16th Street (across from Spaghetti Warehouse, Outback Steakhouse, etc.
adjacent Harrington Park).
If you are a senior artist or crafter interested in selling your wares at
Yellow Rose, or would like more information about shopping, call
972-941-7155. The shop is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
