Outdoor Watering Prohibited; Emergency Hotline Established

Posted: July 13, 2005

EFFECTIVE JULY 13, 2005, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, ALL OUTDOOR/LANDSCAPE WATER USAGE IN PLANO IS PROHIBITED. The North Texas Municipal Water District has experienced a major water main break at its plant in Wylie. This water line is one of the main supply lines to the City of Plano. Repairs are underway, but those repairs could take several days.

A Water Emergency Information Hotline has been established at 972-769-4338. This is an information recording line only.

The City Manager has declared that a water emergency exists in Plano. Attempts will be made to notify all citizens of this state of emergency.

The City of Plano has activated Stage 3 MANDATORY restrictions, outlined in the City’s Emergency Water Management Plan.

Those restrictions are:

• All outdoor/landscaping water usage is prohibited.

• Water used for municipal purposes is limited to only those activities necessary to maintain the public health, safety and welfare.

• Use of water from fire hydrants is prohibited except for fire fighting and related activities.
