A highlight of every Plano City Council meeting is having a local Boy Scout
or Girl Scout troop lead the City Council and audience in the Pledge of
Allegiance. If your troop would like to be part of this experience, we’d
like to know.
Plano City Council meetings are held the second and fourth Mondays of the
month, beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Municipal Center, 1520 Avenue K. The City
Council Chamber is wheelchair accessible.
Troops are signed up in advance through the City Secretary’s office at
972-941-7120.
In addition to experiencing the leading of our nation’s Pledge in public,
scouts also are able to be part of an important civic experience by
attending a televised City Council meeting, and observing the Mayor and City
Council in action.
The Pledge of Allegiance is part of the opening ceremony, normally
concluding by 7:15 p.m. The scouts are free to leave following the Pledge,
but are encouraged to view part or all of the meeting, providing an
excellent educational forum on municipal governance.
