Balloon Festival Volunteers Needed

Posted: August 4, 2005

The Community Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival, September 16 – 18, needs a wide assortment of volunteers to assist with this outstanding three-day national event. As thousands of eyes turn to the skies, you can enjoy the opportunity of having a front-row seat to the action as part of the Festival volunteer team.

Now entering its 26th year, it is the support of hundreds of volunteers who come out to the Festival, working anywhere from one shift to the entire week, that has helped the event mature and thrive. These onsite volunteers give our visitors a good dose of Plano hospitality and ensure the event runs smoothly. From answering questions, supporting various organization booths to helping launch balloons, being a Festival volunteer is an unforgettable experience.

Last year over 120,000 persons watched in awe as hot air balloons took to the skies from Plano’s Oak Point Park. With over 80 balloons launching throughout the weekend, chase crews play an important role in getting the balloons both in the air and packed up after landing. With crew training offered August 9, you need to call 972-618-2821 as soon as possible to check on the availability of chase crew openings, which are limited.

To find out about Festival volunteer openings assisting City initiatives, contact Plano’s Volunteer Resource Group at 972-941-7436.
