The Plano Parks and Recreation Department has announced changes in swimming
pool hours effective Monday, August 8, through Labor Day weekend. “This is
an annual reduction in hours because school is back in session,” said
Recreation Superintendent Heather Miller. “Most of our lifeguards are high
school students, so we lose a good portion of them when Plano Independent
School District classes begin.”
The following revised operating hours will be in effect through the Labor
Day Weekend, with Plano Recreation Center outdoor pools closing for the
season on Tuesday, September 6.
Beginning on Friday, August 12, the new weekend hours for the Oak Point
Recreation Center outdoor pool (6000 Jupiter) is Saturdays, 6:00pm – 9:45pm,
and Sundays from 1:00pm – 5:45pm, including Labor Day.
Liberty Recreation Center (2601 Glencliff) will have their outdoor pool area
open Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00pm – 6:00pm.
Jack Carter Pool’s new operating hours (2800 Maumelle) are Fridays from
5:00p.m. – 8:00p.m.; Saturdays from noon – 8:00pm and Sundays from 1:00pm –
6:00pm. Labor Day operating hours for this facility are 1:00pm – 6:00pm. The
activity pool will be open Monday through Friday from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
The Plano Aquatic Center will be closed August 7 – 28 for biennial
maintenance and repairs and the Rowlinson Natatorium remains closed for roof
repairs. The anticipated re-opening of the Rowlinson indoor pool is October
2005.
