Posted:  July 5, 2006 The Carpenter Park Recreation Center, 6701 Coit Road,  will be closed on Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9 for air conditioner repairs and replacement. The facility will reopen for regular hours on Monday, July 10, 2006.     The recreation center was initially opened in 1990 as Plano Recreation Center and was the first free-standing recreation center in Plano. The building was renamed when Oak Point Center was opened. Carpenter Park Recreation Center features two gymnasiums, 8 racquetball courts, a cardio-vascular exercise area, weight room, gymnastics studio, game room,  walking/jogging track, classrooms and locker rooms.
