It’s hard to beat a summer’s evening at the Amphitheater at Oak Point Park when the stars begin to glint in the sky and the flickering of a firefly is enhanced by a soft breeze that dances across the audience.
Amphitheater patrons by the hundreds are enjoying the facility’s recent facelift, thriving artistic venue and tree-lined natural setting. The facility is easy to access, located in Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, across from Collin County Community College on Spring Creek east of Jupiter.
From the strains of Shakespeare to the music of Ray Wylie Hubbard, a night under the stars at Oak Point is turning into one of summer’s hottest tickets.
A family-friendly atmosphere encourages picnic blankets and low-back chairs for a mixture of performance venues that even includes recently released movies. The facility is open for rental, with concession areas and a first-class sound/staging area filling the bill for a multitude of outdoor events.
For rental rates and availability, call 972-941-5610 or 972-941-5202.
In addition to the Amphitheater at Oak Point Park, Creative Arts, a division of Plano’s Parks and Recreation Department also oversees The Courtyard Theater and the Cox Building Playhouse. To view the venues and subscribe to Plano’s Stages mailing list, click here.
