Bookmarks, gift tags, scrap booking, laced edge pictures, ornaments, place mats, playing cards, gift bags, decoupage boxes…when it comes to recycling, holiday greeting cards are a valued resource!
It’s such a shame to throw out the beautiful and unusual holiday cards we get in the mail, but it’s a little easier to let them go knowing they are slated for a new life! Besides saving trees by reducing the need for wood pulp to make more paper stock, used holiday cards can be used in a multitude of ways, creating fun and enjoyable activities all year round.
Keep Plano Beautiful can use your cards in many of their educational programs and is actively collecting them for reuse.
Send your used or unused greeting cards to Ms. Casey Eckert, Keep Plano Beautiful Education Coordinator, 4200 W. Plano Pkwy., Plano, TX 75093.
The cards (front, back and inside) can be used in total, including the sayings, which can be snipped out for bookmarks and other uses.
Here’s a couple of examples of greeting card “re-uses”:
