The City of Plano is initiating mandatory once-weekly outdoor watering
restrictions effective June 19, 2006. This is the third in a three-part
consecutive series explaining those restrictions and providing
information on your watering day and related outdoor watering
information.
Keeping you informed about our region’s drought condition and our
outdoor watering restrictions is a top priority for us. All Plano water
consumers (85,000+) were direct mailed an informational letter on the
outdoor restrictions, along with the watering day zone map. Utility
bills will also contain information on the outdoor restrictions
beginning in June 2006.
An informational hotline has been set up that is continually updated
with the latest information about the drought and Plano’s outdoor
watering restrictions. Check it frequently for updates:
972-769-4338
Check out the City’s web site for a copy of the City’s drought/water
emergency ordinance and for additional drought/restriction information,
including answers to frequently asked questions. Copies of the City’s
drought/emergency water ordinance is available at each Plano library as
well as the central Action Center (information desk) at Municipal
Center:

Stay tuned to planocitynews
for informational news articles.
Over 200 “Water Alert” signs have been posted throughout our All-America
City listing the hotline information number and the web site address.
Direct contact with top Plano water users has been established with
ongoing dialogue. Contact was made with the Plano Home Owner’s Council,
with many homeowner associations spreading the word about the outdoor
watering restrictions to their membership. Staff continues to make
presentations and appear at public events to promote awareness of the
Stage 3 restrictions and to continue on-going water conservation
efforts.
Additional print information will be appearing in several City
publications with local media also supportive of the information effort
on the watering restrictions.
Your cooperation and support plays a critical role in the success of our
regional water conservation efforts during this time of extreme drought.
If not a resident of Plano, you are encouraged to check with your local
municipality/county to determine if outdoor watering restrictions are in
force and join us in conserving our most valuable resource – our water.
