Once Weekly Watering Now In Effect
The City of Plano is pleased to announce that residents can return to watering one time a week. Under the new watering schedule, odd addresses can operate irrigation watering (such as sprinklers) on Tuesdays and even addresses can do so on Thursdays. No watering with sprinklers is allowed between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. During the weeks we have rain, please turn off sprinkler systems. Foundations, new landscaping, first year plantings of shrubs and trees may be watered within a 10-feet radius of their trunk for up to two hours any day by a hand-held hose, a soaker hose or a dedicated zone using a low-flow irrigation system. We remain under Stage 3 Water Restrictions, which prohibit hydroseeding, hydromulching and hydrosprigging due to the high volume of water required to initiate growth and root development. Additionally, pool owners must apply for a variance to drain and refill a swimming pool. Thank you for cooperating in the City of Plano’s ongoing effort to conserve water.

Stage 3 Water Restrictions Remain in Place
The North Texas Municipal Water District continues to enact Stage 3 water restrictions through the end of May. In spite of recent heavy rainfall and changes to the U. S. Drought Monitor, significant concerns remain regarding our local water supply. With the continued loss of Lake Texoma due to Zebra mussels, remaining La Nina atmospheric conditions and lake levels remaining below needed measurements, water conservation is still necessary to whatever degree possible.
Occasional spring-like days may tempt landscape watering but please keep irrigation systems turned off. With recent rains and dormant plant materials there is no need to irrigate at this time.
