Living Green in Plano
The Sustainability and Environmental Services Department is responsible for developing and implementing sustainability programs and practices targeted at city departments, employees, the business community, and the general public. The department consists of three divisions.
Environmental Waste Services Division
This division provides three separate services to Plano residents, schools and commercial businesses:
Community Outreach Division
Community Outreach educates and involves residents of all ages in activities promoting beautification, environmental stewardship, and waste diversion including recycling, composting, household chemicals, litter reduction, electronic recycling, water conservation, energy conservation, and air quality.
Compost Operations & Marketing Division
This section is responsible for operating the North Texas Municipal Water District Regional Composting Facilities, marketing the finished
Texas Pure products, and educating the public about the use and benefits of compost.
