Summer Teen Volunteer Program
4/29/13 - The summer waiting list for teens ages 13-17 years old is now CLOSED. The fall waiting list has begun.
Administrative Volunteers Needed
VIP is seeking adult volunteers with clerical/administrative knowledge who can donate their skills on weekdays. Seeking help with scanning, filing, indexing documents and other general clerical tasks. 3 month commitment required. This opportunity would be great for a retiree or someone looking for experience. College internships available. Apply here.
Summer College Student Positions Open
Many City departments are seeking college students for summer placement. Departments include Libraries, Police, Genealogy, Planning, Engineering and Building Inspections. Other departments may be added at anytime. Apply here.
Mission Statement
The Volunteers In Plano (VIP) Program is committed to encouraging citizen participation within the City of Plano. The program works in partnership with other staff members to develop money-saving programs, to support city departments and to respond to changing needs in the community, while enhancing services through awareness and outreach.
We believe volunteer engagement:
- Improves customer services and our relationship with the community we serve
- Allows the city to expand our capacity and to enhance services
- Provides strong community advocates
- Assists citizen understanding of municipal problems, issues and programs
