Exciting changes are taking place at Plano Fire-Rescue.  

Plano 9-1-1 and Plano Fire-Rescue are rolling out a more contemporary and smart emergency medical dispatch model called Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) on March 18.  It’s a more contemporary, intelligent and efficient way to respond to emergency medical calls.  Please take a moment to watch this short video about the new and smarter way your firefighters will be responding to medical emergencies. 

On March 4^th an Accreditation Team made up of Assistant Chief Alan Storck, Fire Rescue Specialist Kevin Haines, Research Analyst Jason Gregorash and I attended the 2013 Center for Public Safety Excellence Conference to receive the Center for Fire Accreditation International’s accreditation.  This is quite an honor for the Plano Fire-Rescue, as the CFAI accreditation requires a comprehensive self-assessment and evaluation model that enables fire and emergency service organizations to examine their service levels and performance in a way that allows them to compare to industry best practices.  With this accreditation, Plano-Fire Rescue remains the only fire department in the United States to have CFAI accreditation, CAAS (Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services) accreditation, and an ISO Class 1 rating.
