Plano Public Library COVID-19 Update: May 18, 2020 – closed


To help contain the spread of the Coronavirus or COVID-19 within our community, all Plano Public Library facilities are currently closed. Scroll down to see the calendar of virtual programs.

Book drops are open and returned items are quarantined for 72 hours. Items will still show on your account during the quarantine and holds fulfillment will also be delayed. Having the item(s) remain on your account will not impact your ability to check out additional items. **Please note book drops are closed Sunday, May 24 and Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.

Holds pick up and specialty item returns are available porch side (see process and times here). Items currently checked out will be due starting the week of June 1; please check your account for due dates. Currently, access to digital resources is provided even if your account has overdue items. See FAQs for more library information.


You can access our digital services including eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, newspapers, streaming video and online resources from home. For assistance using any of these services, please call your library Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. You may also email us your library question.

Currently, material donations are not being accepted. Please hold items until the Library reopens. You may support the library with a financial donation here.

Online Access Information - Plano Public Library
During the health emergency, access to online resources will be provided even if your account has overdue items. Use your library card to download eBooks and eAudiobooks with Libby, Overdrive and RBdigital. Downloadable Magazines are available from Flipster and RBdigital and Newspapers through PressReader on RBdigital. Stream award-winning films for adults and kids with Kanopy. Use our databases to learn a new language, find information on businesses and learn new skills.

Davis LibraryThe May 1995 bond election provided $3,425,000 for the construction of a fourth library. In January 1996 the City Council approved the purchase of a 14-acre tract on Independence Parkway at Caravan Drive for a joint-use site for the fourth library and a police sub-station. In June 1997 ground was broken for construction of the Maribelle M. Davis Library. The 30,000 square feet Davis Library opened in August 1998 with a collection of 40,000 volumes. The library is named in recognition of the first library directory Maribelle M. Davis who served for 30 years.
