Service Hours: Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Sunday 1 - 4:30 p.m.

Current Services Available

  • 2 hour computer reservations, library card required, scheduled in advance, call us (instructions for process and schedule)
  • External Bookdrops for returns, items quarantined for 72 hours, expect some account delay, no impact to borrowing privileges
  • Porch side pickup of materials (see process and times here)
  • Access to digital resources (e-books, e-newspapers, e-magazines, e-audio and databases)
  • Book a Librarian and Telephone Reference (email)
  • Online programs for all ages (Calendar)
  • Donations not being accepted
  • FAQ

Family Learning Nature Walk with Plano Public Library
Explore and learn about the outdoors with Plano Public Library and Plano Parks & Recreation! In this video, you'll learn how to make a personalized set of binoculars using household items like cardboard tubes, glue and various creative supplies; then, we'll go on a walk with Kelley at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve. She offers some interesting information about trails and where they lead throughout the park, and the variety of insects, trees and flowers you can see in the park.

Tape Resist Art


Family Learning Tape Resist Art with Plano Public Library
Artists place easily removable tape onto their paper, color or paint the paper and carefully remove tape to reveal ‘tape resist’ design. Pinching and pulling tape is a great activity for developing fine motor muscles in the hand. FYI, using color pencils or crayons is an easier-to-clean version of this activity.

Family Learning Leaf Rubbing Collage with Plano Public Library
The art project starts with a trip outside! Artists use crayons to rub patterns from found leaves onto a sheet of paper to explore textures. A great alternative to leaf rubbing is to use textured materials in various shapes and sizes, such as textured papers/ribbons, cut pieces of wallpaper and sandpaper.
