Partnerships

By partnering with dozens of local groups and nonprofit organizations, the Library connects with the community and learns about the needs of local residents. Partnerships enhance opportunities to reach diverse audiences and extend our capacity to provide vital information and resources. Partners engage in Library activities in a variety of ways; teaching classes, promoting Library resources within the community and underwriting performers and unique programs

Programs like the Wonder Café offer businesses the opportunity to introduce industry-related technology and innovation to open the minds of young learners. Presenters are scheduled for one-hour interactive virtual programs with hands-on activities

2020 Texas Book Festival
Texas Book Festival Grants

Texas Book Festival grants support collection enhancement for Texas public libraries. This funding enables the Library to share the diversity and breadth of literature with the entire community. These grants have supported collection enhancement for Chinese, Urdu, Large Print materials and more

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are vital to the Library! Community response to Plano Public Library’s educational, recreational and informational services are continually increasing. Working together, volunteers and paid staff are meeting these increased demands within a limited budget. Last year, 534 volunteers contributed 10,963 hours providing services such as shelving, book mending, genealogy assistance, language learning and math tutoring. Volunteers acquire new skills, meet interesting people and experience the satisfaction of sharing their talents with others

Corporate volunteers bring energy to various library activities. Recently, Bank of America volunteers hosted a library tour for ESL students, greeted participants in the Holi Festival, and presented financial education programs; employees of United Healthcare and Bank of America assisted with “Math Mania” programs; Capital One associates provided tech help and delivered a career development program; and Toyota and Boeing were among our Wonder Café presenters. We welcome corporate partners to explore opportunities to help the library

Library programs seek to fill the learning needs and interests of our community, focused on these areas: early learning, STEAM, financial literacy, business development, job search and workforce skills, genealogy and cultural experiences. Programs may be presented by library staff or by community partners who bring focused expertise to enhance learning. The Library plans programs 6-12 months in advance
