Preston Road at President George Bush Turnpike Information
Preston Road at President George Bush Turnpike is a major intersection improvement project that will add a southbound right turn lane for southbound Preston Road traffic to the westbound President George Bush Turnpike on-ramp. In addition to the right-turn lane, dual left-turn lanes will be added for southbound Preston Road traffic to the eastbound President George Bush Turnpike on-ramp. Construction is being managed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). - This project was put to bid by TxDOT. The lowest bidder, J.D. Abrams, was awarded the contract in the amount of $4,599,208.90.

The contractor will begin installing traffic control devices on the evening of Monday (March 2nd) and will begin demolition on the outside southbound pavement on Preston Road once traffic control devices are in place.
Construction expected to be complete in spring 2021, pending weather.
The contractor, JD Abrams, has been coordinating with the NTTA to begin nightly closures on the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) beginning on April 5. The contractor plans to close off all westbound lanes of PGBT on April 5 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will have to exit onto the westbound Preston Rd. off ramp, then go through the intersection and continue onto the westbound PGBT on ramp.
On April 6, the contractor will close off all eastbound lanes of PGBT from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will have to exit onto the eastbound Preston Rd. off ramp, then go through the intersection and continue onto the eastbound PGBT on ramp.
From April 7 to April 10 the contractor will be closing the westbound lanes of PGBT nightly. From April 12 to April 17 the contractor will be closing the eastbound lanes of PGBT nightly.
