Mosquito Pools Test Positive for West Nile - 7/30

A test conducted of a pool of mosquitoes in City traps has come back positive for the West Nile virus. Weather permitting, Plano Environmental Quality Division crews will spray tomorrow, Friday, July 31 beginning at 9 P.M. The targeted spray area is bordered by the following streets:

  • North – Kirkwall St.
  • South – W. Plano Pkwy. / Tradition Trl.
  • East – Coit Rd.
  • West – Fulgham Rd.

Residents are urged to ensure children and pets are indoors during the time of spraying.

At this time, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has no data to suggest that this new coronavirus or other similar coronaviruses are spread by mosquitoes or ticks. The main way that COVID-19 spreads is from person to person.

The city will post notifications of spray events and maps of their locations as they are scheduled. No spray events are scheduled at this time.
