Safety in the Swimming Pool

Federal legislation that seeks to end hundreds of preventable childhood deaths due to entrapment in suction fittings/drains was signed into law on December 21, 2007. This law is the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Safety Act. The Texas swimming pool codes already meet or exceed the act on the commercial side. Please read the Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) interpretation of the act and its meanings for both commercial and residential pools.

Protect Yourself & Your Family Against Recreational Water Illnesses

Think about it!

You share the water with everyone in the pool. If someone with diarrhea contaminates the water, swallowing the water can make you sick.

Chlorine kills germs, but it doesn’t work right away; it takes time. Without your help, even the best maintained pools can spread illness.
