The Honor Guard is a team of professional firefighters created after department members attended the funerals of three Tarrant County firefighters who were killed in the Line of Duty in 1999. They are committed to ensuring that fire service traditions and ceremonies are performed and observed with honor and dignity.
The team’s paramount mission is to pay tribute to those firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and to those who have passed on following distinguished careers in the emergency service. The Honor Guard also proudly represents Plano Fire-Rescue department in both funeral and memorial services for other public safety officers.
The Pipe and Drum band was founded in December 2008 and plays on average 25 times a year at memorials, parades, ceremonies and other special requests. The band currently has seven members and is one of the only fire department bands across the DFW metroplex that has stayed strong since its inception. Band members volunteer their time and gather the necessary financial support through donations.
