Pixie's Miracle

Posted on December 20, 2012 at 2:11 PM by Jamey Cantrell

This is Pixie.

She was part of a litter born to a feral mother in a Plano backyard.  Pixie was blind and would not have survived out on her own, but thankfully she and her littermates were brought to our shelter. After more than a month in our care, she was adopted by a wonderful person who even took one of her sisters to help her by being Pixie's "guide animal." During surgery at the Veterinary Eye Institute, her doctors found eyes hidden beneath flaps of tissue and delicately worked to give her the gift of sight.  After spending her first eight months of life in darkness, Pixie can now see again! Our thanks go out to the doctors and staff at the Veterinary Eye Institute for their amazing work and most importantly to Pixie's adopter. People who are willing to give special needs animals a chance are true heroes to those of us who work in shelters!
