Celebrate National Park and Recreation Month With Us!

Parks month 600x350-01

In honor of National Park and Recreation Month this July, we celebrate the passionate and essential work of parks and recreation professionals who specialize in providing vital services to a healthy Plano.

You can mark the occasion by joining us for the variety of virtual activities we have planned for residents of all ages and abilities, including Facebook trivia, #ThankaParkandRecPro video contest, and more!

Our Department, along with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), invites you to learn more about our local parks and recreation staff and the essential services they provide. With everything from athletics, special events and pools, to recreation centers, parks and trails, there are plenty of ways you can celebrate with us!

Tune in and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram all month long for these and other fun and engaging online and in-person #WeAreParksandRec activities:

Get to Know Us! This social media series spotlights just some of our most valued employees working on the front lines and behind the scenes.

Get Outdoors Park Scavenger Hunt (Part 2): Back by popular demand and expanded to 12 challenges! Use photo clues and hop the parks, submitting selfies from the indicated landmarks to win! The faster you find a park, the faster you get to your next set of clues. The grand-prize-winner will receive an annual family membership from our friends at the Heritage Farmstead Museum!

Instagram Takeovers: Follow local parks and recreation lovers as they explore some of Plano’s greatest amenities for getting fit, enjoying nature, and bringing along the four-legged friends and/or kids!
