Bobwhite Quails at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve

Our Natural Resources group embarked on a special project this summer to re-establish the Bobwhite quail population at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve. So far, our staff has released 50 of these native birds into the wild with great success! Our hope is that these birds will thrive and restore the population at Plano’s largest park. But we need your help!

Ensuring their success depends on us to keep an eye on them in this beautiful nature preserve. If any visitors come across these birds while on a walk or bike ride, we would love for you to let us know where you saw them. Please send your sightings to Kym Hughes at, or call/text her at 972-742-9670. Thank you!
