What are you and your family doing to stay healthy and active? Show us how you “Play in Plano” during our Fit Family Challenge now through Sept. 26!
All you need to do is follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instagram to share your photos and short video clips showing you engaged in your favorite healthy activity. Don’t forget to tag us and use the hashtag #playinplano!
In addition to highlighting the many ways our community gets moving, we’ll also be sharing useful tips and information to keep you stay motivated every day. It all leads up to National Family Health & Fitness Day on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Need help getting started? When families strive to be healthy together, the possibilities are endless! Share a short video clip or photo during your next nature hike; take a selfie from the trail or the basketball court; or show us a healthy meal you’ve prepared together. The more ways you can show us what you do to stay healthy and fit, the more we can encourage others to do the same.
Incorporating exercise and a healthy diet into a family’s lifestyle takes a village, and nobody likes to celebrate their successes alone. So rally the troops, and let’s develop new skills and habits together that will last a lifetime!
Here are some other ways you and your family can participate in the Fit Family Challenge this fall:
Sign up for Oak Point Recreation Center’s virtual challenges! Staff will provide you with tracking charts so you can share your successes with them. These are great for those looking to put their fitness apps to work!
Tri in Plano (Course #34086): This is a virtual triathlon that you can do on your own time, at your own pace, during the month of October. There are two youth categories, and three adult categories to choose from. This challenge is to be completed during the month of October. This will be a cumulative distance challenge and can be completed indoor, outdoor, or a combination of both. Once you are finished, you will receive a T-shirt to commemorate your accomplishment. Please note, that currently, in order to use the rec center you must be a member.
Fit in Plano Swim Challenge (Course #34057): Here is a swimming challenge to motivate you in your daily exercise program! You will have 8 weeks to complete either 40, 80 or 100 miles. You choose your distance. This challenge will begin on September 27 and end on November 22. You will receive a T-shirt to commemorate accomplishing your goal. Please note, that currently, in order to use the rec center you must be a member.
