Urban Playground Partner Application

  1. On Thursday, September 13, The City of Plano will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Parks and Recreation by hosting Urban Playground Day. Businesses and citizen groups will adopt designated spaces in and around downtown and transform them into creative playgrounds and miniature parks. Prepare to see anything from giant board games to small yoga sessions, free dog training to live music and art. The sky’s the limit for outdoor mini parks that will encourage spirited public interaction.

We invite you to get in on the fun by becoming a partner or sponsor of Urban Playground Day. The event will take place concurrently with the 2018 Art & Wine Walk, which brings about 800 people to downtown. Haggard Park, McCall Plaza, and the blocks near 15th and K streets will feature activities for families with entertaining and whimsical mini playgrounds.

As a partner or sponsor, you have the opportunity to participate in this new event with a reserved space where you can install a playground or even host a jam session. You’ll garner a great deal of name recognition while helping the City of Plano present this new event to the public. As a partner or sponsor, you would receive:

    • Premier space for a large playground in a high-visibility area
    • Branding on event signage, commemorative collateral and social media
    • Opportunity to send a representative to speak at raffle event (partner level)
    • Social media mentions with link to business website
    • Opportunity to sponsor giveaway for event raffle

Installation from the City of Plano for your space is available for an additional fee. For more information, please contact regarding installations and fees.

To secure your sponsorship or for more information, please email or call (512) 465‐2162.

  2. What sounds fun to you? What shows off your business? Here are some ideas from other cities: a sustainable garden, a pirate cove, a display of a new urban landscape plan, an art gallery, a small cafe, a ping-pong tournament, a free bike repair shop.

I agree to set-up and be ready for the public by 5:00pm on the day of the event, unless I notify the City of Plano's Arts, Culture & Heritage Manager by close of business on September 1. I agree to remain onsite until the closing of the event at 9:30pm.

For good and valuable considerations received, the undersigned agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Plano, its members, officers, directors, employees, sponsors, volunteers, contractors and agents from any and all liabilities, obligations, claims, damages, diminution in value, costs, and expenses (including all court costs and reasonable attorney fees) (collectively, “claims”) that the undersigned may suffer or incur prior to, during, or following participation of the event in the Downtown Plano Arts District, including any injury to persons or property under my control or to persons or property of my agents, employees or invitees from any cause, including but not limited to theft or loss of property. The undersigned recognizes the hazards of participation in an outdoor event and assumes all risks of participation; refunds will not be given in the event of inclement weather. In consideration of the City of Plano allowing me to participate in the Urban Playground event and being aware of the possible injuries that could occur to me as a result of that participation, I, on behalf of myself, release all City of Plano officials, employees, and agents from any and all injuries and damages whatsoever arising from my participation in the Urban Playground event. I, my heirs and representatives, agree to indemnify, save and hold harmless the City of Plano, its officials, employees and agents from any and all claims made by me or my insurer for injuries or damages related to the Urban Playground event. I agree that the City of Plano, its officials, employees, agents, and representatives have the right to use photographs of me taken at Haunt Jaunt without payment to me.
