  1. Clear the Shelters 2020

    August 8, 2020 - August 29, 2020 @ Plano Animal Shelter

    The 6th Annual Clear the Shelters event returns this year, but it’ll look a little different. This year Clear the Shelters will run from Saturday, August 8 to Saturday, August 29. However, adoption fees will only be waived from Monday, August 24 to Saturday, August 29. You can view adoptable pets ahead of time on our Petfinder page at share.plano.gov/AdoptablePets. Call the Plano Animal Shelter at 972-769-4360 with questions. We will continue to follow social distancing guidelines through the Clear the Shelters campaign. Please remember to wear a mask when visiting the shelter.

Plano Online Activities Calendar

  1. Virtual Library Program: Sci-Tech - Be a Chemist!

    August 29, 2020, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

    Join Plano Public Library and Sci-Tech Discovery Center for some science fun. Children ages 7-12 can play the role of chemists and discover the importance of chemistry to fields as varied as medicine, manufacturing, art and environmental conservation. The Be a Chemist program is Sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline and offered in partnership with The Franklin Institute and UNC Morehead Planetarium. Offered in collaboration with Sci-Tech, Plano Public Library is one of 27 locations across the country to host the program. This one-hour program, hosted on Zoom, includes hands-on experiments using supplies picked up at the library one week before the program. The classes are small to provide an interactive experience so be sure to register right away. **Participants will need a computer with internet access, a webcam, a microphone and the Zoom app downloaded in advance.
