Water may be coming out of a fire hydrant because of hydrant flushing efforts. The City of Plano flushes water to prevent bacteria build up in specific areas of the water supply, keeping it safe for residents.
To find out if your irrigation controller can be set to every other week watering, visit your manufacturer’s website. Each manufacturer uses different terminology for the settings.
Some manufacturers include: Rain Bird, Irritrol, Toro, Weathermatic and Hunter
Currently, hydrant flushing is the only way to successfully flush water in Plano. The City is focused on finding potential alternatives in the future
