Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System Basic Physical Defense course is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques for women. It is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with risk awareness, risk reduction, recognition, and avoidance while progressing to the basics of hands-on defense concepts and techniques. RAD is NOT a martial arts course. For more information on Rape and Aggression Defense Systems visit the national RAD information webpage.
You will learn how to use easy and proven tactics in various types of attacks. The class expands on the “flight, fight or freeze” emotional reaction to a threat. Students are taught enhanced defense techniques, teaching them that physical defense can be prudent and necessary. Women gain confidence in knowing how to make an educated decision about resistance in spontaneous, violent attacks.
This class is designed for women and girls of all skill levels. Women who are pregnant, or have an injury or any condition for which they are being treated, should not take this class until they have been medically cleared.
Plano Police Officers who are nationally certified RAD instructors will teach the course.
The course is 12 hours total, consisting of three-hour sessions on four different nights.
STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ALL FOUR CLASSES!
All students who complete the course receive a lifetime return and practice policy at any RAD Basic Physical Defense Program offered anywhere, regardless of instructor.
This training, offered by the Plano Police Department, is FREE OF CHARGE to all participants.
Registration is required. Please contact Officer Hayley Dick (firstname.lastname@example.org) at (972) 941-2210 for more information.
